{WARDED PRIVATE}

So perhaps this is what others thought of Jacqueline regarding her hasty engagement. I am somewhat relieved that eyes are no longer on her as much. Her outspoken nature has never fit in too well with society. Even Georgina was able to manage better than Jacq. Then again, at least Jacq is still ali safe.

I visited Jacq yesterday with mother. She seems rather bitter to not be.. as involved(?). Mother called her dramatic but I completely understand.. A countryside home is not a place for a girl like Jacqueline. Her heart and mind is too big for it. But it is where she is to stay and she will follow through.

I cannot believe she is already pregnant while I'm not even--

{/WARD}

{WARDED TO BARTY}

So I suppose people will be talking less about Jacqueline now that Hortense was hastily engaged?

{/WARD}

{WARDED TO NARCISSA}

How are you doing Narcissa? I hope very well! Lucinda and I would still very much like to host your baby shower. I'm excited for you to see the venue and the color scheme! The date is completely up to you, of course, or if you even want to follow through with one.

{/WARD}

{WARDED TO HORTENSE}

A congratulations are certainly in order Hortense!

I remember my mother was absolutely ecstatic regarding Reg my engagement.. Things tend to go in fast-forward, but you still kind of feel like you're stuck in slow-motion. But that was just me. How are you feeling about everything?

{/WARD}

Spring has passed by in a blur. It doesn't feel too much like summer, either.

Thank you, Julianne. You are the first to ask how I feel regarding my engagement everyone assumes I am happy. I wish I could be entirely honest with you.

You were still at Hogwarts when I was first engaged but it was a very drawn out affair and evidently, we never married. Throughout that engagement, I felt as you described but now I know what to anticipate and that is certainly going to make a great difference in how this year will unfold. Things may not have fallen into place perfectly the first time but I am glad I know how to manage everything now.

How you feel is probably the first thing that should be considered, but I believe we all must be forced to prioritize. Do you believe that we can learn to like ideas, things, people if we keep thinking it? I'm always so mixed on the answer.

It must bit a relief, big or small, to have experienced it before. At the same time, while you may be the same, if not more prepared, it is also the husband-to-be that might make things different. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that it will be okay if things don't go necessarily as planned..

That is a difficult question to answer because there is no succinct yet clear answer and because for me, it is difficult to look at ideas and people separately at this point.

I believe you can learn to like a person but it is very difficult to achieve that because there is so much that makes up a person. Differing ideas are often what barricade us from others (especially during this time) and they are the most difficult to abandon, particularly if an idea stems from injustice or bitterness. And I firmly believe that any relationship requires that the people in them grow together. It would be difficult to make a friendship or relationship work if you do not share the same values or if you are maturing at different paces... in the end, you would have to decide what you value more: the idea or the person. I hope that makes some sense.

I agree that everything can be fine if things do not go as planned. In fact, it is rare that they do.

It actually makes perfect sense. There's nothing else I can really say that will add to it. It is a difficult choice though, deciding what you value more. I Some will never really figure it out, I think.

Agreed, unfortunately. If there is anything you need, do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you, Julianne. That is a very kind offer and I wish I had had the courtesy to extend the same to you sooner. For that I apologize but I assure you that I will do my best to make up for my bad manners.

I feel better every day, and if only I could climb more stai all the Healers would vanish I think I should be perfectly well. As for the baby shower, I can hardly dictate the terms of such a thing - it is immensely kind of you and Lucinda to do this. In any case, I should be able to go out by next week.

How are you fairing, and your mother and sister?

I'm glad. Draco is such a handsome boy already. Next week it is then, Wednesday or Thursday? Or perhaps the weekend would work better?

I'm doing well as I could be, as always. It's been a bit quiet in the household.. Jacqueline is furious healthy and resides where Mr. Macnair has requested. Father's been busy with work and mother hasn't been too active. It's an odd feeling, really. I feel as if I'm an only child.

I think a weekday would perhaps be better if possible, as I am uncertain if my mother wishes to do something with my grandparents in Cheshire for the weekend.

I am glad Jacqueline is well, though it must be hard for the two of you to live apart. Do you visit frequently?

How does Thursday sound?

Perhaps once a week. I do not wish to invade Mr. Macnair's home but now that she is in the countryside, she has demanded asked that I visit more often.

Quite perfect!

I was not aware she was in the countryside - is her health perfectly fine? It is a beautiful place; I did always enjoy our county estates and at this point I think I vastly prefer Wiltshire to London.

Yes, she is. Oh! Perhaps.. perhaps you do not know? When we were kept hostage at the Center, Jacqueline declared that she waspregnant and she was released.

Please be .. sensitive, with this information? I'm not sure how many people know or don't know, but the less attention on it, I'm sure it will be better.

She told everyone? There is a certain... ah, advantage to secrecy and handling a matter delicately. It is understandable that a pregnancy is exciting, but really, I kept mine secret for two mon

Of course I will not tell anyone, but considering the terr I hope she is well

Yes, mother (and I'm sure her husband) was furious.. But Jacq probably just really wanted to get out. And to be pregnant during such a situation.. I can see why being a hostage would be less than optimal for the child.

She is physically well and I'm relieved for that.

I think I can define each year with summer.. Even events that were as simple as a picnic with my family. I miss it very much.

I suppose if summer teaches me anything, it's that not to take even mundane things with granted, as long as you are with good company.

I hope so, for her and your sakes. Although for Hortense's sake, I hope the novelty of hasty engagements has worn off by now. If people can't mind their own business, then they can at least keep their gossip to themselves.

Which I'm sure they're doing.. There has got to be more things to be worried about other than how fast one got engaged.

Speaking of which, what Mr. Avery said.. Has people been taking His name in vain? Mr. Avery's reminder seemed almost unnecessary.

I agree. Personally, I have no interest in what the reason behind it was. And even if we all knew, there's nothing that can be done now. And as you said, there are more important things to worry about, like these terrorists still walking free somewhere. Perhaps the gossip is so that some people can distract themselves from reality, impractical as it may be.

As for Mr Avery, I'm not sure what we was on about exactly. And it's not my place to question his or the Dark Lord's will. There must be something big he's not telling us though, or as you said, it's unnecessary. I'm not willing to test it, though I wouldn't be surprised if Warrington did just that for us by accident.

I'm surprised he hasn't been dismissed from service yet. Although after what was on the wireless just now, I wonder how long it will be until that happens rather permanently. Sometimes, I think he could single-handedly take down our side better than the terrorists ever will.

Well, if I hear anything, I'll let you know unless I get a direct order not to say a word. It's been eerily quiet so far, so I don't know if the higher-ranking among us haven't heard yet or they're already planning something.

It was a recorded conversation between Mr. and Mrs. Burke.. It certainly seemed like a private talk though. Mrs. Burke was worried for her children and wanted to keep them safe. I believe she wanted to leave but all the borders are closed. Mrs. Burke said Mrs. Nott would like to leave too but she couldn't because of her husband and his obligations. That the only way to leave would be through muggle means.

She also said "Corbina is not Death Eater material." I didn't

Well, I was admittedly a bit busy with Mother at the time. And I'm not good at concentrating on more than one thing at a time. But you're right that I should have listened more carefully to the entire thing. And those women need to have more faith in His will. Perhaps the Dark Lord will go easy on Mrs Burke and Mrs Nott as they are wives on the sidelines rather than fighting for Him directly. I think their thoughts might be more understandable in that context. That's not to say all of His supporters are like that though.

Ah! How is your mother doing? I haven't kept in touch in some time, I feel guilty.

Yes, but Mrs. Burke, as the sister to Mr. Lestrange and Corbina.. I don't know if this will be a good thing for her or bad.

This is wrong. We shouldn't be against each other like this. It's what they want. For there to be no unity.

She's doing well enough, considering her condition. I think the fact it's summer and we can leave the windows open without fear of a chill is helping. But she still can't leave the house right now. And don't feel guilty. You had a lot, even too much, going on earlier this month you're not at fault for. She'd be thrilled if there were any visitors at all.

Hopefully it will all work out. Although if the Burkes already have heirs -- For everyone's sake, and the Cause's too. You're right that we need unity right now, especially after so many set-backs recently. I guess some people would argue that there would be unity in getting rid of Warrington.
